Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

Thin, custom-made shells that improve the shape, color, and look of your front teeth.

Overview

Dental veneers are thin shells, usually made of porcelain or composite resin, that are bonded to the front surface of teeth. They are used to improve the color, shape, size, or alignment of visible teeth. Porcelain veneers are made in a dental laboratory, while composite veneers are built up directly on the tooth. Veneers are a common treatment in cosmetic dentistry.

Benefits

  • Correct chips, discoloration, and minor gaps or misalignment
  • Resist staining better than natural enamel
  • Look natural and blend with your smile
  • Can transform several teeth at once

What to Expect

Your first visit includes a consultation to discuss the look you want. A small amount of enamel is usually removed to make room for the veneer, and impressions or scans are taken. A temporary veneer may be placed while your custom set is prepared. At the final visit, the veneers are carefully bonded and adjusted.

Care Tips

Care for veneers as you would natural teeth, with twice-daily brushing and daily flossing. Avoid biting your nails, chewing on ice, or opening packages with your teeth. If you grind your teeth at night, ask about a protective night guard.
