Removable replacements for missing teeth, designed to restore function and appearance.
Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and some of the surrounding gum tissue. They are typically made of acrylic, sometimes with a metal framework, and are custom-fitted from impressions of the patient's mouth. Dentures come in two main types: partial dentures, which replace some teeth, and complete dentures, which replace all the teeth in an upper or lower jaw.
Partial dentures are for patients who still have some healthy natural teeth. They fill the gaps and attach to remaining teeth with small clasps, which also helps keep those teeth in position. Complete dentures are for patients who have lost all of their teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. They rest on the gums and are held in place by suction and fit. Your dentist will recommend the right option after examining your mouth.
Remove your dentures daily to clean them with a soft brush and non-abrasive denture cleaner. Soak them in water or a denture solution overnight so they keep their shape. Handle them carefully over a towel or a sink of water to avoid accidental breakage.
