Gentle removal of a tooth that is damaged beyond repair.
A simple tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that is fully visible in the mouth, using instruments to loosen the tooth and lift it from its socket. It is performed under local anesthesia and does not require cutting into the gum. Simple extractions are commonly carried out for teeth that are severely decayed, damaged, or loosened by gum disease.
Bite gently on the gauze for about 30 minutes to help a blood clot form. Avoid rinsing, spitting, or drinking through a straw for the first 24 hours, as these can dislodge the clot. Stick to soft, cool foods and avoid smoking while the area heals.
